Helen O Regan, Operations Manager FCA, Diploma in People Management
Helen is a Chartered Accountant with 16 years post qualification experience in a range of senior finance roles in the service industry. Most recently she has been a member of the senior management team in one of Cork’s largest and most respected nursing homes. Helen has worked closely with the HSE having successfully tendered for the provision of aged care beds. Continuous improvement programs for all areas of the business are high on Helen’s agenda.
Director of Nursing Martina Cooney RGN, BSc (Hons) Health Studies
Martina completed her nurse training through London South Bank University in 1999 while based at Whipps Cross University Hospital. Her background is in General and Emergency Medicine Nursing. In the Spring of 2004 Martina joined the Rheumatology Department of Whipps Cross University Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Biologic therapies used for patients with inflammatory arthritis. This role also entailed the review of patients who had Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis; both conditions affecting predominantly female patients over the age of 65. Martina returned to Ireland in 2008 and worked as a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM1) in one of Cork cities leading hospitals. She also worked in Dublin as a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM2) in Rheumatology Rehabilitation and Elderly re-enablement. Martina joined Haven Bay Care Centre as the Director of Nursing in September 2009.
Raquel Yap, RGN Clinical Nurse Manager
Raquel has been nursing in Ireland since 2001. She has worked in a number of Corks leading care of the older adult facilities, most recently occupying a Clinical Nurse Managers post. Raquel is a popular member of staff, known for her gentleness and clinical expertise.
Our Care Team
Care staff at Haven Bay bring a variety of skills and expertise to the Centre. From working as home helps to experience in art therapy and dementia care, all staff employed have a history of working in the caring industry. All staff employed at Haven Bay are given a comprehensive induction program and Manual Handling training to ensure best practice is initiated at the outset. Staff are introduced to policies and procedures from the outset and an excellence of care is standard at Haven Bay. Staff are supported and encouraged in further education and training on such topics as Tissue Viability, Infection Control, Nutrition and Dietetics and age appropriate Activity planning.
